Are these bowls really self-cleaning as they claim? And how often do I have to change the filter?

It's not like, magically spotless forever, but it does a good job keeping grime from building up. You still gotta wipe it down sometimes. For the filter, they say every 2-4 weeks depending on how much your pet uses it and water quality. I usually do mine monthly.

Yeah, it helps a ton, but it's not zero maintenance. Filter changes are super easy though, and totally worth it for clean water for my dog. I change mine about every three weeks.
